FY24 Fees

Residential Flat Rates:

Car/Van/SUV – $5 per load / $10 per load mixed load

Pick-Up Truck – $15 per load / $20 per load mixed load .

Vehicles with Trailer or a Hitch Attachment – $91 per ton/$15 min fee

Yard Waste/Scrap Metal – FREE/advise clerk of material


$2.25 per 32-gallon capacity

Purchase online in our Recycling Store or at a local Vendor

Non-hazardous waste that fits within a 32-gallon trash can; Diameter 22” Height 27”

Commercial Vehicle Bulk Rates:

Commercial vehicles classified by; Out of County ID, Vehicles with Trailers or a Hitch Attachment, Ladder Racks, Side Boards, Stake/Utility Body, Box Truck, Cargo Van, Signs, Logos/Lettering, Business Check or Credit Card. Commercial Hauler Registration Fee $25

Bulk Waste – $91 per ton/$15 minimum

Bulk Waste w/ Mixed Recyclables – $115 per ton/$15 minimum

Roll-Off Container – $115 per ton/$15 minimum

Commercial Vehicle Recycling Bulk Rates:

Clean Soil – $0 per ton

Scrap Metal – 0 per ton

*Yard Waste – $50 per ton/$15 minimum

*Dump Trailers/Uniformed Crew/Loaded Lawn Equipment are considered commercial yard waste haulers.

Scrap Tire Fees:

On or Off Rim, Bias and Radial Charles County

Residents can dispose of 2 car or pick-up tires per day at no charge. Additional tires must go over the scales.

10+ Tires – $225 per ton*

Farm Tractor/Off Road – $250 per ton/$15 minimum

Car/Pick-Up Truck – $2 per tire

Dump Truck/Tractor Trailer – $25 per tire/$15 minimum

*When hauling more than 5 tires you will need a Scrap Tire Haulers License. To receive a temporary waiver, please email, or contact the Maryland Department of the Environment at (410) 537-3315 or (800) 633-6101, extension 3315.

Unacceptable Items

The following items are not accepted at the Charles County Landfill:

  • Out-of-County refuse
  • Commercial loads of demolition debris
  • Asbestos
  • Hazardous Waste: Ignitable, Corrosive, Reactive, or Toxic
  • Carcasses
  • Polychlorinated Biphenols (PCBs)
  • Bulk liquid waste
  • Septage
  • Refrigerant-containing waste
  • Radioactive waste
  • Bloodborne pathogen waste
  • Gas cylinders
  • Ashes
Rules & Safety
  • The Landfill, Recycling Centers, and Mulch Facility reserve the right to temporarily close due to dangerous situations created by hazardous materials, inclement weather, or events that put staff and/or the public at the risk of harm. These closures will be communicated as quickly and as efficiently as possible. Operations will resume only after the danger or hazard has past and the area is deemed safe. Stay informed by signing up for our Citizen Notification System (CNS).
  • Persons on the landfill working face must wear a high visibility vest and a hard hat.
  • Children must remain in vehicles at all times.
  • Patrons must obey load covering laws, posted speed limits, and all traffic signs and signals. 
  • Vehicles must not be leaking any fluid and be in good working condition. Off-road tires are strongly recommended. 
  • Tow hooks are required for all commercial vehicles and trailers. Drivers are responsible to attach tow cables in the unlikely event a vehicle becomes stuck. 
  • Vehicles over 10,000 lbs must weigh in before 3:30 p.m.  
  • Vehicles must exit the landfill at 4 p.m.
  • Drivers must have a driver’s license. 
  • No waste from outside of Charles County. 
  • Belligerent, offensive, threatening or confrontational behavior will not be tolerated. 
  • All tires must be separated from other waste.
